Panther Softball Ties For 1st In District

The Lady Panthers softball team tallied two district wins outscoring the Ingram Lady Warriors, 15-3, on Tuesday, April 8 and defeating the Johnson City Lady Eagles, 9-1 on Friday, April 11.

On the road at Ingram the Panthers needed only 5 innings to take the Warriors. Jamie McClinton smacked a single and a homerun. Payton Savarino also blasted a homerun. Meaghen Seales hit 2 singles with Abbie Culton, Cheyenne Klein, and Charlsey Smith each adding a single. McClinton led the team with 4 rbi with Savarino adding 3. Kasie Dowdy tallied 2 rbi. McClinton, Seales, and Culton each scored 3 runs. Seales pitched one inning and Savarino went 4 innings tossing 3 strikeouts.

At home on Friday, the Panthers battled the Eagles to tie the district standings. The Eagles took a win over the Panthers in the first round of district play. Savarino hit a single and a double with 2 rbi. Andrea Calzoncit hit a double over the left fielder for 3 rbi. Culton, McClinton, and Klein each hit 2 singles. Seales pitched all 7 innings with 2 hits and 5 strikeouts.

The Panthers are now tied for first in district with Johnson City with a 6-1 record. Blanco’s season record is 18-7.
