Dear Editor,

The Blanco River has been described as the defining element in some of the Texas Hill Country's most beautiful scenery. It also lies in the path of major development. The river's flow has been diminished in recent years by drought and our increasing demand for water.

My next book will explore the Blanco River and the issues that face it. Working with the Burdine Johnson Foundation in Kyle and the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment in San Marcos, I plan to travel the river this spring and summer. Along the way, I will seek out people to hear their stories, in addition to researching the Blanco River’s history, environment and conservation.

If any readers wish to pass along your knowledge, I'd love to hear from you at With your help, I hope to do right by this interesting and important river, the Blanco.
