First Baptist Hosts Family Reading Fair
Wednesday, May 7, 2014 • Posted May 9, 2014

Last Sunday afternoon, May 4, First Baptist Church hosted a Family Reading Fair for students who attend their Community English Classes. The church wanted to bless these students and their families with beginning home libraries.

Cinco De Mayo decorations set the tone for this festive event. Each family was given a bookcase and books to start their libraries. Children enjoyed face painting, blowing bubbles, and hearing stories in the reading center. Everyone enjoyed browsing the book tables, visiting, and snacking from the beautifully displayed finger foods.

Over the past five months church members have been donating books and funds for this project. They were also involved in making the bookcases, adding their own personal touch to each one. Many thanks must be given to Literacy ConneXus, an organization in Fort Worth that gave us some idea guidelines and provided sturdy book bags and many of the books.
