Blood Donors Needed During Summer Months
Wednesday, August 13, 2014 • Posted August 14, 2014

During the summer months there is an increased need for donors to step forward and help sustain the community blood supply. High school and college students make up a quarter of the blood donors in our area. When schools are out on break we have less donations but the same patient need. Only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community.

The Blanco Community Blood Drive will be held Friday, August 22, from 10am to 3pm in the Lowe’s Market parking lot. Participate that day and you will receive a Lowe’s gift card, a donor t-shirt, a mini-physical, and the priceless, satisfied feeling of saving lives!

Anyone who is 16 years old, weighing at least 120 pounds (with a parental consent form), or at least 17 years years old, weighing at least 110 pounds, and in good health, can donate blood. Donors must present photo ID, last four digits of their social security number, and their birth date.

For more information call Rita Woodman at 830-522-0178 or log on to www.donatingforlife.org.

The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center thanks you and they hope that you can join them to help give life!
