Marisa Grace Vargas was born November 28th, 2004 and passed away early Sunday morning on February 8th, 2009.

She is survived by her parents, Juan Vargas Jr. of Blanco and Lisa Marie Barrera of San Antonio; her two siblings, Paco and Estevan Vargas; grandparents, Juan and Rosa Vargas of Blanco and Geni Barrera of San Antonio; great-grandparents, Wesley and Anita Barrera from Helotes and Leo Noriega from San Antonio; aunts and uncles, Vincent Barrera, Michael and Vanessa Conkey of San Antoino, Sandra Acosta of Waxahachie, Texas and Janette Vargas (Godmother) of Blanco, Texas; and of course the community of Blanco, Texas.

Marisa fought cancer long enough to change people’s lives and touch their hearts. Marisa’s middle name was Grace. Grace is defined as a seemingly effortless beauty, or charm of movement, form, or proportion. Those who had the pleasure of knowing or meeting Marisa knew all about her charm and beauty. Secondly, it is defined as a favor rendered by one who need not do so. This describes the actions of all who helped my family when they didn’t need to or even know us. These actions brought new members to our family and, more importantly, it brought a community together. Lastly, Grace is defined in the theological meaning as the state of being protected or sanctified by the favor of God. You see, Marisa was set apart by God for a sacred use; my daughter lived long enough to do God’s work. I would like to thank everyone that has supported us throughout the years. I am very proud of this community and thankful to live in Blanco, Texas. (The Center of the Universe) ~Juan Vargas
