Ark-eology

Are you faithful? We know God is and that is what God requires of us. Ark comes from the Latin, arca meaning large box or chest. The Ark was 1 ½ football fields long and 3 stories high. Its size is compared to the ship Columbus sailed and a railroad train boxcar. Scholars report the ark could hold 50,000 animals. The Ark had 1,500,000 cubic feet of space.

Here are some lessons we can learn from Noah’s family and the Ark:

1) Don't miss the boat.

2)Remember that we are all in the same boat.

3) Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.

4) Stay fit. When you're 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.

5) Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.

6) Build your future on high ground.

8) Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.

9) When you're stressed, float a while.

10) Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.

11) No matter the storm, when you are with God there is always a rainbow waiting.

I can see Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth going into the Ark every evening, with their wives. It probably became their home. Each evening they would go in and talk, eat, do chores.

Envision this, one evening they are asleep and it has been raining 40 days and 40 nights. Suddenly they are awakened by the Ark beginning to rock back and forth. They jump up, go to the top of the Ark to look out and see nothing but water. God was faithful to those righteous people and God saved them.

Not matter who you are God wants you in the Ark. No matter what you have done God wants you to be righteous. Many of us are like $50 bill. If it is stomped on your would still like to have it? If it were folded and crumpled up you would still want it. If it was exposed to the weather and mangled your would still want it. Many of us have been beaten up, stomped on and are in difficult times. The point is that God still wants you. And the crucifixion of Jesus the Christ is proof of God’s love for us.

God Wants You

When you are down to nothing God is up to something. The great Chicago Bears running back, Walter Payton, gained over 9 miles rushing in his football career. Problem was every 4.6 yards he was slammed to the ground by gigantic football players. Yes, God wants you one the Ark of eternal life; no matter who you are. If you will, but trust in God’s promises you will find the risk of giving up control of you life to God very beneficial.

Noah and his family remained faithful to God. That is what we do in difficult times; praise and worship God in spite of our circumstances. Look for the rainbow, because that is God’s promise of life to those who believe in God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
