Texas Men’s State Chili and Barbecue Championships
Wednesday, February 18, 2009 • Posted February 17, 2009

The public is invited to attend and participate in the Texas Men’s State Chili and Barbecue Championships at the Blanco County Fairgrounds on Saturday, March 28. This will be the official Texas men’s championship for chili, ribs, brisket, and chicken. There will be lots of good food and drink, vendors, live music, and fun activities for children.

This will be the sixth annual Texas Men’s State to be held in Johnson City. The cookoffs generate significant donations to local charities and organizations each year and public support will help keep the event in our city. Prior to coming here, the Men’s state cookoff was held in Grapevine and in San Marcos before that. Vendor fees are waived for local non-profits. Admission is free to the public.

There will be several new attractions at Men’s State this year, including an open bean competition with cash prizes, a little Miss Chili Pepper Contest, a domino tournament, and more.
