FCCLA Prepares for Region Meeting

The Blanco chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America will be attending the Region V Conference in San Antonio, Texas on February 20-21, 2009. The chapter members will be among 1200 delegates attending the two-day conference. The youth developed theme, “Find Your Treasure with FCCLA” will be carried out through tracks featuring a series of specialized workshops and general sessions in which members will discover ways to become actively involved on issues facing today’s youth.

STAR Events (Students Taking Action for Recognition) and Proficiency Events are competitive events in which members will participate at the regional meeting. These events will allow members to showcase their life skills in different areas of competition. LEOs (Leadership Enhancement Opportunities) will be offered on Friday. Also, the new officer team for 2009-2010 will be elected to carry the organization forward.

STAR event participants include: Rachel Calzoncit and Kalyn Massey in Chapter Showcase Display – Senior Division and Alicia Immel in Applied Technology – Senior Division. Chelsea San Miguel will represent BHS as a Regional Officer candidate.

FCCLA is a dynamic youth organization that has the family as the central focus. Student leaders of Texas FCCLA are ready to “Find Your Treasure with FCCLA” and progress with programs related to parenting, child development, management (personal and financial), interior design, entrepreneurship, food service, nutrition, institutional maintenance, hospitality, and career awareness.
