February 21, 1969

Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Harbers of Lexington are the proud parents of a baby boy, David Ray, born February 18 at St. David’s Hospital in Austin. He weighed 10 pounds, 1 ounce.

Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Harbers of Nordheim, and maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Heimer of Blanco.

Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Harbers of Nordheim and Mrs. Otto Heimer of Blanco.

Births

February 21, 1969

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wolf of Cuero are happy to announce the arrival of a baby girl, born Sunday, February 19. She weighed 9 pounds, 7 ½ ounces and was named Lisa Ann.

The proud grandparents are Mrs. Erna Wolf of Blanco, Mrs. Sallie Goodson and Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Goodson of Houston.

Great grandmother is Mrs. Addie Wolf of Johnson City.

Public health clinic

February 23, 1979

A Public Health Clinic for immunizations against polio, measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus will be held on Thursday, March 1 in Blanco at the Catholic Parish Hall on Highway 281 between 10:00 a.m. and 12 noon.

World Day of Prayer Slated Friday, March 7

February 21, 1969

The World Day of Prayer will be held at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church in Peyton Colony on Friday, March 7 at 8:00 p.m.

Everyone is invited to attend by Lola Johnson, President, Pastor C.A. Ridge.

Legion meets tonight

February 23, 1979

American Legion Post 352 will hold its regular meeting and covered dish supper tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Legion Hall in Blanco.

County youths do well in SA

February 23, 1979

San Antonio - A number of Blanco County 4-H and FFA youngsters are reported to have done extremely well at the San Antonio Stock Show, particularly in the lamb division, by a complete report will bot be available until County Extension Agent Dexter Sagebiel returns from the show, which is still going on.

Only on local FFA member, Blanco High School’s Lance Calhoun, is reported to have entered the Houston Livestock Show, which begins February 21.

City Election Slated April 5

February 21, 1969

The Blanco City Commission has called for an election for mayor and two commissions to be held on Saturday, April 5, in compliance with the law passed in 1967 to become effective in 1968 for city official election to be held on the first Saturday in April.

All persons desiring to have his name on the ballot should file with the City Clerk on or before March 5.

The present city commission is composed of Wayne Smith, mayor; Clarence Waxler and Jerry Lindeman, commissions.

18 attend YHA banquet

February 23, 1979

The Young Homemakers of Texas, Blanco Chapter, held their annual Sweetheart Banquet on February 14, at Little Blanco Inn.

The dinner speaker was Johnnie Veltman, a communications consultant from the Northeast School District of San Antonio. He spoke on “effective discipline techniques” and with the help of his wife, Janet, demonstrated various techniques.

Eighteen were present, including members and their husbands.

The March meeting of the Blanco YHA will be March 13, at 7:30pm in the Blanco High School Home Economics Cottage.
