•Trout Fishing in Blanco! Blanco State Park stocked with rainbow trout 1 more time this winter, Feb 25. Pay park entry fee: $4 adults, $2 seniors, and State Park Annual Pass holders and kids under 13 free. No fishing license required! Fish from the bank or rent a canoe/kayak. No length limit on trout; daily bag limit of 5.

•Everyone in Blanco is invited to "come-as-you-are" and worship with the folks of New Hope Lutheran in a quiet, candlelight setting on the evening of Ash Wednesday, Feb 25. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the 40-day time period before Easter referred to as Lent. The Service, which begins at 7pm, will be held at New Hope, at the corner of 9th and Elm St {All-Faiths Chapel building}. We hope that you will be able to come & be with us.

•Great American Clean-Up Begins! Keep America Beautiful's Great American Cleanup, the nation's largest community improvement program, starts March 1 and runs through May 31.

•“Lone Star and Eagle,” a photographic exhibit that chronicles the German heritage of the Hill Country, opens at the Blanco Library March 1. Marking the beginning of the month-long One Book/One Community project, the exhibit was created by the Goethe-Institut Houston and is made available through Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment of the Humanities. Three books about the German settlement of the Hill Country have been selected for readers participating in this community program, and multiple copies are available.

•Local School Board Candidate Workshop: Monday, March 2 at 7pm in the Blanco High School Library. For community members interested in running for our local school board. •Lenten Fish Fry dinners at St. Ferdinand's Church, Blanco: Fish dinner includes fries, cole slaw, hush puppies, pinto beans, beverage & dessert--$7. Serving in church hall opens at 5pm and "to-go" plates available. Hosted by St. Ferdinand's Men's Club.

•American Cancer Society Volunteer Training: The American Cancer Society desperately needs volunteers who are available to transport cancer patients to their appointments. Volunteers will receive brief training and are reimbursed for the miles they drive. Next training session will be held March 13 from 10am to 12:30pm at the Blanco Library.
