Vintage Cottage to Host Art Show
Wednesday, February 25, 2009 • Posted February 24, 2009

The Vintage Cottage will be hosting an art show by Dallas native, Kathy Mackey, on Thursday, February 26th and Friday, February 27th from 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Kathy is a self taught artist that started her “artistic” journey while pursuing a behavioral science degree. She found herself needing a creative outlet and had experimented with clay and various other mediums. Once she picked up a paint brush, a passion started to emerge. Since this was a new path started late in life, she wanted to have fun with it. She loves color and her paintings exhibit strong color.

She loved the quote by Georgia O’Keefe, “Singing has always seemed to me the most perfect means of expression…it is so spontaneous…since I cannot sing, I paint”. She states she sure cannot sing and cannot paint like the great O’Keefe, but painting brings her great joy and if one person gets joy out of her paintings, then she has double joy.

Kathy’s heart art, in acrylic medium is very personal and special to her. It holds a whole separate motivation. It came about one day during her devotional time. She was studying about wounded hearts-not the physical wound, but a wound much deeper. During this time, she thought of how faith and belief in God can mend our wounded hearts if we allow God to work in our life. She came up with a heart/cross design that she has coined –Cross My Heart Art. The cross is the ultimate expression of God’s love. It represents sacrifice, love, joy, hope, peace and what an awesome friend we have in Christ.

Please make time to visit with Kathy and join us for the light refreshments at the Vintage Cottage at 508 4th St., Blanco, Texas. If you have further questions, call 830-833-4709.
