The Blanco chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America recently attended the Region V Conference held in San Antonio, Texas on February 20 – 21, 2009. The chapter members were among 1,200 delegates attending the two-day conference. The youth developed theme, “Find Your Treasure with FCCLA” was carried out through tracks featuring a series of specialized workshops and general sessions in which members discovered ways to become actively involved in issues facing today’s youth. FCCLA is a dynamic youth organization that has the family as the central focus.

STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) are competitive events in which members participate at the regional meeting. These events allow members to showcase their life skills in different areas of competition. Blanco High School had two STAR Event teams competing at the event and one team will advance to the State meeting in April. Following is a list of teams who competed at the meeting and their placement:

2nd Place: Chapter Showcase – Sr. Division – Rachel Calzoncit and Morgan Petri

Alternate: Applied Technology – Sr. Division – Alicia Immel
