Blanco ISD Schools Celebrate Texas Public Schools Week March 9 - 13

Blanco ISD schools will celebrate Texas Public Schools Week March 9 – 13 with several activities, including Open Houses at each campus.

The Elementary School will host its 2nd Annual Math and Science Night on Tuesday, March 10. Registration, cookies, and punch will be provided in the cafeteria from 6:00 – 5:30 PM. Shortly thereafter, parents and students will follow four 20-minute rotations featuring various school topics on math and science. The Blanco Masonic Lodge will also award a Lamar Medal to an outstanding elementary educator.

On Monday, March 9, Blanco Elementary will celebrate the “Day of the Young Child”, sponsored by the Blanco Early Childhood, Early Childhood Intervention (ECI), Blanco High School Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), and the Blanco County Early Impact Team. These organizations will provide a free family event open to all children of Blanco and surrounding areas. A morning of fun will include games and activities for children and also provide information for parents about service organizations who serve young children and their families. This year, we are also offering a health fair for every one of all ages.

The Middle School will be having activities going on all week, highlighted by its Open House scheduled for Monday, March 9. Hot dogs and chips will be served to all guests starting at 5:30 PM, followed by a short program and an Open House from 6:00 – 7:00. The Blanco Masonic Lodge will also be present to award a Lamar Medal to an outstanding middle school educator.

Throughout the week, the theme at the middle school will be “Education Go Get It!” Ongoing activities include trivia questions about colleges during the morning announcements, college themes in teachers’ lessons, guidance lessons by the counselor about higher education, and student research projects on the colleges of their choice.

On Monday, Dr. John Huber of Texas State University will talk to students about planning for higher education. Tuesday will be “Hats Off to Your Education” day, with students wearing caps of their favorite colleges. In addition, hallways will be displayed with locations and information of teachers’ colleges. Wednesday, students will be participating in a spelling bee. Thursday and Friday, teachers will be sharing their college experiences. Also on Friday, 8th grade students will travel to the high school for a Freshmen Orientation.

Blanco High School will host its Open House on Thursday, March 12. The focus of the Open House is to celebrate, present, and display examples of student achievement. Additionally, the parents in incoming freshmen students are invited to attend an informational session to assist in the selection of classes.

7:15pm - One Act Play Performance, In the Woods - Cafeteria
