Blanco Open House Thursday

March 2, 1979

In conjunction with Public School Week March 5-9, Blanco High School Principal Bob Bendele and Elementary Principal B.R. Gloor invite parents of all students to Open House during the P.T.O. meeting Thursday, March 8 at 7:45 p.m.

Parents will have an opportunity to go through a shortened version of their son or daughter’s daily schedule.

Teachers will present a short overview of each class.

March 1, 1989

Bethany Helen Wagner

Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Wayde Wagner would like to announce the arrival of their beautiful baby girl. Bethany Helen entered the world on Tuesday, February 21, 1989 weighing in at 6 pounds, 11 ounces and was 19 ¾ inches long.

Pound grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Strickland of Blanco and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Carleton of Johnson City.

Blanco Seeking Baseball Team

February 28, 1969

Anyone seventeen or older interested in playing baseball for a Blanco Team in the Hill Country League are asked to attend a meeting at the Blanco Gym at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 1.

This is the first year that Blanco has invited to play in this league. If enough are interested, Blanco can be represented, in the Hill Country League during the 1969 baseball season.

Canyon Dam trouts sets state record

March 2, 1979

Guadalupe River – Texas Parks and Wildlife officials notified the Times Guardian Wednesday that the six and one-half pound brown trout caught out of the Guadalupe River below Canyon Dam in December has been officially entered into their books as a state record.

The fish was caught December 29, by Houstonian Bill Trussell, on a girdle bug a nymph like bait with chenille body and sponge rubber “feelers.”

“Honeysuckle Rose” to perform

March 1, 1989

Twin Sisters Hall, Inc. will be having a dance Saturday, March 4, from 9:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. Music will be by the Honeysuckle Rose Band.

Honeysuckle Rose is a power-packed, good time dance band. The group includes Melody Ackerman, Ted Meyer, Catherine Reed, and Ann Garcia, performs frequently at Texas dance halls and events. With a top notch musician on each instruments and each a vocalist, Honeysuckle Rose appeals to both dancers and listeners.

The band is also planning to play for the Blanco Jamboree, June 10.

4-H Club Meets

February 28, 1969

The Blanco 4-H Club met on Monday, February 24, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Curtis, vice president, presided due to the registration of Zoe Goehmann.

There is a District Contest on Saturday, April 16. Everyone interested contact Agent Rex Jones.

The sewing class will begin March 13 at 3:30 p.m. in the Grange Hall. Members interested bring material, scissors, pin needles and tape measure. No plaid material, please.

The next 4-H meeting is on Monday, March 24.

Mr. and Mrs. George Schaefer of Austin are the parents of a baby girl, Jodye Renea, born February 4, 1969.

She weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces.

Maternal grandmother is Mrs. John Jones of Blanco.

Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Schaefer Sr. of Junction.
