Ground is Broken Again!
Wednesday, March 4, 2009 • Posted March 3, 2009

On February 1, 2009, ground was broken for a second building at North Shore United Methodist Church located at Rt. 306 and North Cranes Mill Rd. at Canyon Lake. The church recently celebrated its first year in its present multipurpose building and finds its needs require a second building to serve the growing church and area. This building, yet to be named, will house a music room and classrooms.

In the summer of 2004, the “mother church”, Canyon Lake United Methodist Church, began a north-side service at the Bunk Haus RV club house. The service out-grew the location and moved to Rebecca Creek Elementary School where it eventually evolved into North Shore UMC in January, 2006. Other churches in the area have taken this model of church starts to begin new churches, an example is Gruene UMC that was started by First UMC of New Braunfels.

Retired Pastors, Lee Griffin and Wes Schultze celebrated the ground breaking as a very long awaited dream which began over twenty years ago. Efforts have been made over the years to meet the need for a north-side congregation and now the dream is full-filled with the continually growing, vibrant church.

Retired Pastor Sharon Freeto, who is serving as full-time interim minister, finds great pleasure in her ministry to a church filled with active members that have a reputation for friendliness. She can be contacted at 830-935-2171. Worship is every Sunday at 23880 North Crane’s Mill Road, Canyon Lake, at 9:00 for the Praise Service and 10:30 for the Traditional Service.
