Local Youth Place High at Annual S.A.L.E.

For the past several weeks, numerous FFA and 4-H members from Blanco County exhibited livestock at the 60th Annual San Antonio Livestock Exposition. Overall, these exhibitors did extremely well placing numerous animals.

In the breeding gilt show, Garrett Goodwin placed high bringing home 2nd and 10th place ribbons in the Poland China division.

The market barrow show also proved successful for several local exhibitors as eight got pulled or placed, with five making the sale. Logan Dodd led the way with a 2nd place Chester White. Others placing included: Slater Sultemeier, 4th place Hampshire; Brenna Wallace, 5th place Duroc; Keaton Dodd, 6th place Cross; Baleigh Scott, 6th place Duroc; Mindy Dechert, 11th place Duroc; TylerHardin, 11th place Yorkshire; and Claire Klepac, 12th place Hampshire.

In the market lamb show, five more animals from the county placed, with four making the sale. Tyler Hardin and Mindy Dechert took home the highest placings with 2nd place ribbons in the Southdown and Cross divisions respectively. Also placing were: Victoria Jones, 8th place Medium Wool; Robert Jones, 9th place Medium Wool; and Alex Gustafson, 10th place Medium Wool.

Finally, the market steer show closed out the week with five more Blanco County exhibitors placing and two making the sale. Brittany Sultemeier finished 3rd in the Santa Gertrudis division while Katie Baker exhibited a 5th place Maine Anjou. Others placing included: Victoria Jones, 6th place Charolais; Kaleigh Anderson, 8th place ABC; and Spencer Moore, 12th place AOB.

With San Antonio behind them, many of these same exhibitors will now turn their focus to upcoming shows at San Angelo, Houston, and Austin over the next month.
