JV Drops 4 in Tournament
Wednesday, March 4, 2009 • Posted March 3, 2009

The Blanco Panther JV Baseball Team got off to a rough start for the 2009 season competing in the Annual Blanco Panther Varsity Baseball Tournament. The JV team was facing some stiff competition as they were filling in for a late cancelation.

In the JV’s first game, they fell 11 to 0 to Blanco’s varsity. However, the game proved to be close for 4 innings before the varsity pulled away. In their second game of the tourney, the young Panthers were shut out again at the hands of TMI. Finally, in their third game, the JV Panthers were able to touch home plate scoring three runs. However, the Buffaloes of Florence took advantage of the JV’s depleted pitching staff and were able to coast to a 20 to 3 win. On Saturday, the Panthers fell 12 to 1 to the San Saba Armadillos. Although the Blanco JV went 0 and 4 in the tournament, the Panthers lost to 4 quality varsity teams in games which were all within two runs after three innings of play.

All-tournament selections for the JV went to Grady Childress and Shea Mangold.
