PEC Board Nomination Materials Now Available
Wednesday, February 6, 2008 • Posted February 5, 2008

Pedernales Electric has made petitions available on its web site, www.pec.coop, for eligible members interested in running for an open position on the utility’s Board of Directors. Documents with instructions, nomination requirements for the PEC Board and a map showing Director districts also will be available at all Pedernales Electric offices.

“Our members have asked for open and democratic elections, and we believe the new nomination-by-petition procedure is one of the most open processes in cooperative and corporate governance,” said PEC Board President E.B. Price. “These documents make it easy for any eligible PEC member to run for their Board.”

Open Board positions in the 2008 election are for District 2 Director, District 3 Director, District 5 Advisory Director and District 6 Advisory Director. Completed nomination petitions are due to the Pedernales Electric headquarters location by April 7 for candidates to be eligible for the election, which will be certified following the June 21 annual membership meeting.

As an additional measure to ensure a democratic election process, PEC has hired Election Services Corporation, an independent election services provider, to manage the balloting. Members will be allowed to vote directly by mail, online or in person at the meeting.
