March 7, 1969

Mr. and Mrs. Steve Edmondson of Austin are the proud parents of an 8 pound 3 ½ ounce son, Boyd Stephen, born February 26 at St. David’s Hospital in Austin.

Mr. and Mrs. Orville Hill of Blanco are maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Morris Edmondson of Kendalia.

Hill Country Artists present Paul Kime

March 9, 1979

Blanco - - Paul Kime will demonstrate a Hill Country scene with bluebonnets for the Hill Country Artists at the March 12 paint along. The session will get underway at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Ferdinand’s Catholic Church in Blanco.

Admission to the paint along is two dollars for members and three dollars for non-members.

World Day of Prayer Slated At Mr. Horeb

March 7, 1969

The World Day of Prayer services this year will be held at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church on Friday, March 7, at 8:00 p.m.

This is an interreligious service. Everyone is cordially welcomed.

PTO Open House

March 8, 1989

Thursday, March 9, at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Auditorium, is the PTO “Open House Meeting.”

This is also Public School Week. The Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades will be presenting a musical program during the meeting. Following the meeting, each classroom will be presenting special programs in each room. The classroom will receive a party.

Refreshments will be in the cafeteria. Please come visit our school.

Paintings at C of C Office

March 7, 1969

Mrs. Freeman Rice has four paintings on display at the Blanco Chamber of Commerce office

One of these is a picture of the old rock schoolhouse off River Road, for which an Historical Marker is being sought. Another is of the Warren Smith residence.

Souvenirs of the Presidency of Lyndon B. Johnson still may be purchased at the chamber office at a reasonable price.

Few changes slated for county hunting

March 9, 1979

Although no specific changes in Blanco County’s game and fish laws are slated for announcement at Wednesday’s 2:00 p.m. public hearing at the County Courthouse, citizens are invited to attend and give their comments on several statewide proposals which will affect this county.

Texas Park and Wildlife Department annually holds public hearings in all 256 of the state’s counties, in order to give interested persons a chance to five their opinions on proposed changes in pertinent TPW laws.

Phil Evans, of TPW’s Austin office, says the department will propose nothing specific for Blanco County at the hearing, but that several large scale changes which affect the county will be announced.

Engagement Told

March 7, 1969

Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Joiner of La Vernia announce the engagement of their daughter, Diana Kay to James William Blackburn of Blanco.

Miss Joiner is a senior this year at Seguin High School.

Mr. Blackburn, son of Mr. and Mrs. William I. Blackburn of Blanco was a 1967 graduate of Blanco High School. He is presently enlisted as an E-2 in the United States Army.

A summer wedding is being planned.
