Free Tax Assistance Begins Jan. 28 at Hub
Wednesday, February 6, 2008 • Posted February 5, 2008

Tax-Aide volunteers will be at the Golden Hub Community Center beginning January 28th to help local and area taxpayers prepare their tax returns. They will be available on Mondays from 1:30 to 5:30, Tuesdays from 1:30 to 5:30, and on Saturdays from 9:00 to 12:00.

The Tax-Aide program is sponsored by the AARP Foundation in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service. It is the largest volunteer-run tax counseling and preparation service. Free tax assistance and free e-filing is offered to taxpayers of ALL ages with middle to low income, with special attention given to those age 60 and older. AARP membership is not required.

Tax-Aide counselors undergo IRS training and are prepared to deal with most income tax issues encountered by these groups. Those seeking assistance should bring their prior year’s tax return, Social Security cards for themselves and their dependents, and all their 2007 tax documents. For faster refunds, a checkbook showing the bank’s routing number and account number is needed.

The Golden Hub is located at 1009 North Lincoln Street, just off of the Llano Highway. Call 830-990-8284 for questions or more specific directions.
