Wednesday, March 18, 2009 • Posted March 17, 2009

This Sunday, March 22 at 2 PM, the Healing Arts Community Health Center will host a Grand Opening and Celebration and everyone is welcomed! Food will be offered and entertainment will include Blanco’s very own Zydeco Blanco.

Nurse Practioner Charlotte Widick, and partner Jim Weaver, owners and visionaries of HACHC wanted to create a patient-centered health environment where Doctor and patient work together to optimize health solutions.

Widick noticed that in her 11 years of experience an environment such as this did not exist.

Eagerly working toward her dream of a new clinic, Widick has been working 80 hours a week as an ER Nurse Practioner for Falls Community Hospital in Marlin, Texas.

Widick, a Nurse Practioner (NP) and graduate of UT Health Science Center of Houston, is a Registered Nurse with advance academic and clinical experience, which enables her to diagnose and manage most common and many chronic illnesses, either independently or as a part of a health care team. An (NP) provides some care previously only offered by Physicians and in most States; Texas included, has the ability to prescribe medications. Working in collaberation with a Physician, an (NP) provides high-quality, cost-effective and individualized care for the lifespan of patient’s special needs. Supervising Physician, Steven Moore M.D practices in New Braunfels and Corpus Christi and will visit the clinic every 10 days to review charts and oversee the practice.

HCAHC is currently waiting for insurance credentials from Aetna, United Healthcare, Humana PPO, Humana TriCare, PHCS and Blue Cross Blue Shield. In the mean time, HCAHC will see patients at a comparible cash rate until insurance credentials have been granted.

Optimum health is the intent of this innovative whole body, mind and spirit health clinic.

Therefore, Margaret Boswell, Licensed Acupunturist (LAC) was a perfect match for this clinic. Boswell has 6 years of experience in Chinese Medicine, and is a graduate of Texas College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Academy of Oriental Medicine of Austin. According to traditional Chinese medical theory, acupunture points are situated on meridians along which qi, the vital energy flows.

Acupunture is covered by some insurance plans and especially if prescribed by a Doctor or Nurse Practioner. Acupunture is also an option to help back pain, relieve stress, aid weight loss, insomnia, allergies and migraines to name a few. Interesting fact-some Courts will suggest acupunture for treatment of addiction.

In all, the Healing Arts Community Center is in a league of its own when it comes to whole body healthcare. The growth potential for this clinic to expand and offer more services to the community is already in the works. For example, the Brown Hearing Center will be at the clinic every 6-8 weeks by appointment for hearing evaluations.
