Spanish Club To Hold Dance

March 16, 1969

There will be a Baile (dance) held in the Parish Hall Thursday, March 20, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The Spanish Club is sponsoring the dance as a fund raising project.

Singles $0.50, Couples $0.75.

Artists raise funds for annual art scholarship

March 15, 1989

Hill Country Artists is fund raising for its annual art scholarship in memory of Louise White, which has been awarded to a number of Blanco High School graduates in recent years. One former scholarship recipient, Perry Kuebel, is now the art teacher for Blanco Schools.

Look for art club members exhibiting paintings by Linda Dowdy and Vivian Caswell downtown Saturdays, or mail donations to Hill Country Artists Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 856, Blanco, TX 78606.

Band to Sponsor Birthday Calendar

March 14, 1965

The Blanco Panther Band is making their Annual Birthday Calendar Sale. Monday, March 17, the band will try to contact each home in Blanco for listings and advance orders. All calendars will be sold in advance so that the printers will know how many to print.

Those persons not contacted on Monday should contact any band member or Mr. Harrell if you would like to have a calendar or place a listing for a birthday or meeting. Also those business firms who have not been contacted and would like to place an ad place contact Mr. Harrell.

BISD closed next week

March 15, 1989

The Blanco ISD Administration Office and schools will be closed for spring break, March 20th-24th. Persons wishing to sign up for the board election should consider doing it this week.

The deadline for filing is Wednesday, March 22nd. Persons filing on March 20, 21 or 22 will need to file with Mary Ann Millard, secretary of the BISD board.

Blanco 4-H Club Thanks Rex Jones

March 14, 1969

The Blanco 4-H Club wishes to express their appreciation to Mr. Rex Jones, County Agent, for his time and help with their animals for the livestock show in January.

The Blanco 4-H could not have captured 14 of the 18 Champion and Reserve Champion honors without his time and effort spent with the members and their animals since last September of before. Thank you, Mr. Jones.

SMA Avenges Loss to BHS

March 16, 1979

San Marcos - San Marcos Academy got revenge last Friday, turning the tables on Blanco High’s tennis team with a 7-4 win to avenge an earlier defeat at the hand of the Panther netters.

SMA dominated the singles, Ricky Weirich and Troy Immel the lone local winners with 8-2 and 6-4 set victories.

In doubles, Immel and Chris Wordsworth took a 7-5 win and Sharron Coffee and Dana Surber romped to a 6-0 triumph.

The Blanco Tennis Tournament last Saturday was rained out, but Coach Ann Beckman hopes to reschedule it later in the season.

C of C To Meet Monday

March 14, 1969

The Blanco Chamber of Commerce will hold their regular monthly meeting and covered dish supper Monday, March 17, at 7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

Everyone is welcome.

SWTSU Honors 7 From County

March 16, 1979

San Marcos – Seven county students were among the 3,629 students whose fall semester grades earned them places on the Southwest Texas State University Dean’s Honor Roll and Superior Honor Roll lists.

Local students whose scholastic averages placed them on the Honor Roll include the following: Penni K. Clarke, Dee B. Ellis, Thomas A. Feuerbacher, Howard C. Heiligmannn, all of Blanco; Lori A. Schaeferkoeter and Carlton S. White, both of Hye.
