Panthers Pounce the Eagles
Win District Opener

The Panther softball team opened district play with a 7-6 win against the Johnson City Eagles Tuesday night. The Eagles struck first, scoring one run in the top of the inning, but it did not take long for the Panthers to answer in the bottom of the first with two runs of their own. The Lady Panthers added five more runs over the next two innings. The Lady Eagles scored two runs in the 4th inning and three runs in the top of the 7th inning. Rachel Calzoncit had a double play to stop the 7th inning Eagle rally and end the game.

Highlights: Rachel Calzoncit faced 35 batters, allowing six runs on six hits with six strike outs. Offensively, Rachel Calzoncit was 2 for 4 with two singles, one run and two RBI’s; Lacee Hunter was 2 for 4 with a double and single, one run and one RBI; Symbri McCarroll was 1 for 2 with two runs and two BB; Hillary Tidwell was 1 for 2 with a triple, two BB and one RBI; Alex Gustafson went 1 for 4 with one run; Carla Martinez was 1 for 2 with two runs and two BB; Hillary Tidwell was 1 for 4 with two runs and two hit by pitch.
