Those who enjoyed last spring’s Friends of the Blanco Library’s Tuscan Dinner and a Movie night, or those who missed it, will be pleased to know that November 9 is the date for this year’s festivities. The theme will be “A Texas Dance Hall Dinner and a Movie,” with upscale Texas cuisine by Sibby Barrett of Onion Creek Kitchens. Dinner will be served at the Old Blanco County Courthouse at 6 p.m. Tickets, which cost $15 for adults and $7 for children, are available at the Blanco Library and include the price of admission to an exhibit entitled “Central Texas Dance Halls,” by Austin photographer and architect Krista Whitson, and the classic Western “Honky Tonk,” with Clark Gable and Lana Turner, to be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Blanco Library.

The menu for the evening will include the following: Stuffed Jalapeños Appetizer, Slice O’ Iceberg Salad with Blue Cheese or Roasted Garlic Ranch Dressing and Bacon Crumbles, Molasses Rubbed Chicken, Beef Medallions with Texas Port Wine Sauce, Texas Caviar Black-eyed Pea Salad, “Stick to Yer Ribs” Scalloped Potatoes, Ranch House Borracho Beans, Cranberry Jalapeño Salsa, and Sourdough Rolls. A Choice of Yummy Desserts will include Buttermilk Pie, Buttermilk Pecan Biscuit Pudding with Southern Comfort Sauce, Pumpkin Praline Bundt Cake, Strawberry Shortcake, German Chocolate Coco-pecan Layer Cake, Peach Cobbler, Ice Box Cake, Coconut Cake, Apple Crisp with Cajeta Sauce, and Texas Cinnamon Fudge Sheet Cake. Iced tea, coffee, or water will be provided. Guests may bring a wine of their choice to accompany the meal. A limited number of tickets will be sold, so get yours early.
