The Blanco 7th grade football team defeated the Stockdale Brahmas 24-8 on Thursday, October 8. Ty Adkinson covered the short kickoff on the Blanco 43 giving the Panthers excellent field position. Ozzy Tackett and Kaileb Webster alternated carrying the ball downfield. Tackett got the call for the final 4 yard run and the Blanco touchdown. Walker Alexander dashed in for the 2 point conversion, giving the Panthers an 8-0 lead with 3:40 remaining in the 1st quarter. Tackett kicked off with Adkinson and Webster making the stop at the Stockdale 25. Baylei Burt, Jackson Cress, Andres Elizondo, Adkinson, Webster, and Tackett all made tackles forcing Stockdale to punt. Alexander made a 35 yard punt return to the Stockdale 30 yard line with the help of a great block by Elizondo. Blanco wasted no time scoring on a 30 yard run by Adkinson. Alexander again scampered in for the 2 point conversion. Blanco led 16-0. Blanco forced Stockdale to punt on their next possession, but a fumble by the Panthers led to a Brahma TD and 2 point conversion. The Panthers led 16-8. The offense sputtered on their next possession. After the halftime break, Stockdale started on their own 25. Gabriel Gonzalez and Julian Pesina made tackles for Blanco. The teams exchanged several possessions until late in the 4th quarter the Panthers started a scoring drive at their own 37 yard line. Alexander connected with Cress on a 17 yard pass play. Then from the Stockdale 46, Tackett bolted for the end zone and the Panther TD. Webster delivered a block helping the ball carrier. Adkinson scored the 2 point conversion. At 3:54 in the 4th quarter the Panthers took a 24-8 lead. The defense was strong taking the ball over on downs with stops by Burt, Webster, Pesina, and Adkinson. Blanco ran out the final seconds on the clock taking the win, 24-8. The 7th grade team travels to Nixon-Smiley on Thursday, October 15 for their next district game.
