Charlie Pemberton’s April 1 Letter to the Editor was such an April Fool’s joke that a serious rewrite is in order, here’s mine:

The miracle in Washington, D.C. continues to grow every day. I feel like I should be running up and down the street yelling for joy or ringing a bell.

Constitutional government has returned, no more dark holes of secrecy. Congress performs one legislative reform after another following a brilliant President seeking to redeem and restore our capitalistic system, so recently purloined by a new breed of robber barons.

Best of all is the mature approval that continues to flow from the enlightened adults who elected them. Why shouldn’t we applaud them?

The grown-ups now in charge are guiding the government along sensible paths for the betterment of all. Now is the time to join them on the high ground as the bitterness of the last eight years is flooded away.
