Sophomores to Hold Barbecue

April 11, 1969

The Sophomore Class will hold a Chicken Barbecue Sunday, April 20, at the Chamber for one-half chicken to go will be $1.00.

Potato salad and beans will be available, also.

Chris Moehnke on Dean’s List

April 12, 1989

Christopher W. Moehnke, son of Larry and Deborah Moehnke of Blanco, has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 1988 semester at Texas Lutheran College.

To be named to the Dean’s List, students must have a 3.5 cumulative grade point average with a minimum of 12 graded hours in the past semester.

Regional thins stay busy

April 13, 1979

Blanco High boys and girls and LBJ High girls will be going to track meets this weekend for Regional qualifiers.

Coach Ron Barr reported that the Panthers will take two boys and four girls to the meet at Dilley this afternoon, while Eaglette coach Linda Tate will take two girls to the meet at Mason tomorrow afternoon.

Girls Regional track competition will be held next week, boys the following week. (LBJ Boys will have their District meet next week.)

Bike-A-Thon Set April 21

April 13, 1979

Brenda Shipp-Rogers, Chairman of the Breath of Spring Bike-A-Thon has announced that April21, beginning at 10:00 will be the official date for the Cystic Fibrosis Bike-A-Thon in Blanco.

If you wish to participate, instructions are pledge forms are available at Blanco High School principal’s office.

“Aggie Muster” at Little Blanco

April 13, 1979

Former students of Texas A&M University will assemble at the Little Blanco Inn April 21 for the annual Texas Aggie Muster, announced chairman F.C. Smith.

The Muster activities will begin at 7:00pm.

April 14-15 Set for Cancer Crusade

Mrs. Ruby Poenisch, Crusade Chairman of the Blanco County Unit of the American Cancer Society, want to remind you that even though cancer if not yet conquered, there is still much you can do to fight it.

Guard your life – help yourself with a yearly health check up. And help others with a generous check to your American Cancer Society on Monday and Tuesday, April 14 and 15, when volunteers will call on home and businesses in Blanco.

BHS trio to regional

April 13, 1979

Three Blanco High School students will compete in UIL Literary Regional competition in Victoria next weekend.

In District competition, freshman Michael Berger was first in Science, while Chris Nabers was second in Poetry Interpretation and Sharon Coffee third.

Berger is also alternate in Numbers Sense, while Lynette Love is an alternate in Reaching Writing.

Complete details will be in this month’s issue of “Panther Chat.”

Crofts takes office

April 13, 1979

The resignation of Municipal Judge C.K. Karnes was the highlight of Monday night’s Blanco City Council meeting as new Mayor Butch Crofts took office.

Karnes, who had served in the position for over five years under outgoing Mayor Clarence Waxler, submitted his resignation “for personal reasons’ effective today at 5:00pm.

Mayor Crofts said that a special meeting would have to be held later this month on this matter and also to appoint or re-appoint administrate heads.

Crofts and Aldermen Val Smith and Oren Sublett were sworn in by Justice of the Peach Diana Rae Barry.
