The Invasion

Noel–The Invasion, starring Nicole Kidman, is definitely one of a kind; it reminds me of a combination of zombies and snake-spitting freaks. I’m not sure yet if this is a movie I would recommend or not because it was weird. Something comes out of the sky and infects humans to where they have no emotion and the infected try to spread it by spitting green slime into uninfected peoples’ faces. Now, without emotion the world is free of pain and suffering but it also doesn’t allow for happiness. If you are infected when you go to sleep you awake as “one of them;” therefore, when Carol Bennell (Nicole’s character) is infected she does whatever she can to stay awake. Her son, however, does become infected, falls asleep, but awakens the same kid he was before he went to bed. I’m not really into sci-fi movies, and this was just really weird and different for me; also, on a side note, if your dog tries to attack someone (like in the movie), trust your dog, there’s probably a reason. 2 ½ paws.

Keith–I’ve never seen Invasion of the Body Snatchers or any other of the remakes of this kind of film, so I really don’t have much to compare it to, I will, however, try to see some of the others because I like this sort of film. Alien substance crashes from the sky and starts spreading itself very mysteriously through children and adults alike and we have to figure out why people, including our husbands or wives, are acting so strangely, and by then it’s too late ‘cause we’re running for our lives (I love it). They didn’t take much time to develop the story in fear of a 2 ½ hour movie, so there are holes here and there, but a lot of fun, none the less. Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig find someone who is immune and must help them survive if there is a chance for human survival against the Stepford Wife perfect civilization. Intense sequences of suspense and being able to look at my wife while we’re shopping and say “show no emotion and you can fool them” make this movie worthwhile. 3 paws
