Yucca Garden Club to Meet

April 18, 1969

They Yucca Garden Club will meet Wednesday, April 23, in the home of Mrs. Wayne Smith.

Members are to bring their arrangements for placement.

Three 4-H’ers qualify for State Roundup

April 19, 1989

Myron Felps, Mary Rowe, and Jason Hohenberger have qualified to participate in the State 4-H Roundup in the Livestock Judging Contest. The State 4-H Roundup will be held June 6-8 on the Texas A&M University Campus.

The 4-H’ers qualified to take part in the state contest by placing second in the district competition. Mary Rowe was 2nd high individual overall, Jason was 3rd high individual and Myron was 9th high individual.

Some 84 individuals participated in the district judging contest. In addition this team was high team in oral reason, high team in Beef and Sheep, and third high team in swine judging.

Congratulations to these 4-H’ers on a job well done.

Education programs conducted by the Texas Agricultural Extension Service serve people of all ages regardless of socioeconomic level, rave, color, sex, religion, handicap or national origin.

Relays Saturday (rain permitting)

April 20, 1979

Weather permitting, the often rain postponed Little Panther Relays for junior high tracksters will be held either this afternoon, or, more likely, tomorrow at Panther Stadium.

If it is not held tomorrow, then Blanco High’s two Regional qualifiers, Lynn Maly and Rod Colton, will compete in a boys meet at Mason.

Band to Enter Contest April 25-26

April 18, 1969

The Blanco High School Band, directed by Billy A. Harrell, will enter the Region XI, University Interscholastic League Concert and Sight Reading Contest April 25 and 26 in Fredericksburg.

The Blanco Band will perform on Friday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fredericksburg High School Auditorium. The band will again be aiming for the covert Sweepstakes Award which is the highest honor a band in the State of Texas can receive. The contest is open to the public and parents and the band boosters are urged to come and support the band as they represent the community as well as the school.

Blanco High School team qualifies for State

April 20, 1979

College Station - - Blanco High’s poultry judging team qualified for the State Meet April 28 by placing third out of 45 entrants in the Area VII Judging Contest here last weekend.

Freshmen Michael Berger led the way as fourth high individual for Cecil Wolf’s squad, with Doyle Byler 10th high individual, Melodie Kneupper and Steve Smith.

The Diary Products team placed 12th of 20 with Chris Dickey, Kimo Williams, Deborah Read and Gordon Dowdy.

And the Livestock team was an excellent 18th of 50 entries - - Sammy Nixon, Doug Morgan, Jon Tamayo and Vance Jones.
