Due to the inclement weather this past Saturday (which turned out to be a beautiful day very late in the afternoon), The First Annual Country/Bluegrass Gospel Show was held upstairs in the courthouse rather on the lawn in conjunction with Market Days. I was unable to go as I had to work, but I was told it was a really awesome event. Hope Jerry continues to put this on - I want to sing! The 4-H kids had a bake sale, many goodies from which ended up at my house! Whoever made the cinnamon rolls with the raisins has my vote (along with everybody who was working at Strickland’s Saturday). They were delicious!!!
Condolences to the Henry Fudge family. He was a wonderful musician - somebody told me he knew every country song ever written, and that’s saying something!
Our sympathies to the Ray Knox family as well. Ray also was multi-talented. Anyone who can change careers in mid-stream and make such a success of everything he does is much to be admired.
Don’t forget the Relay For Life this weekend. Walk and make a difference in many, many lives.
Open announcement - our beloved former editor, Charles, and his soon-to-be bride, Rachelle) will have their reception at Blanco United Methodist Church on July 18, 2009. Be there!
Jim Meadows and his wife, Beverly, and Nan and Marilyn Mikes attended the District Lions Convention in Buda this past weekend. It was a two day event held at Cabelas and Hays High School. Nan and Marilyn got to visit with friends they knew when they lived in Buda.
