2009 Blanco VFD Fish Fry

The Blanco Volunteer Members are grateful for all the volunteers who came and worked on April 4th and made their “Fish Fry” fundraiser a success.The department cleared approximately $14,600.00 . These funds will be used to purchase Automatic Electronic Defibrillator’s which will be placed on two of the fire fighting vechicles.

Ron Houston was our emcee again and the department appreciated him being there, although his wife has been sick.

Armando Delgado brought his PA System and helped Macy Mc Main and Robin Hotz give away raffle prizes which brought in $1,300.00. We are grateful for all the local business’s that donated prizes for the raffle.

The following people made donations for the fundraiser.:

Ben E. Keith (Beer) Super S (Pinto beans and bacon ends) Blanco General (ice and more ice), Connie and Henry from Napa (Ice and plastic bags for plates to go) Klepac Greenhouses (beautiful flower arrangements for the tables ) and Blanco State Park for letting the department borrow ten picnic tables.

The BVFD members appreciates all the following volunteers-

Spring Branch volunteers, who helped David Hotz and his crew cut up the fish.

Volunteers who breaded the fish: Katy Baker, Robbie Benson, Bobby Uecker, Butch Crofts , James Allen and The Dollahites (James, Darin and Rance)

Fish Fry cookers: Jack Allen, Bud Lawson, Henry Knox, Colt Petri, Billy Joe Petri, Fernando Flores, David Hesskew, Charles Waxler, Eddie Verhey, Wayde Wagner, and Mike Pippen. (The Johnson City guys, Kermit Roeder, Stanley Kent, Bobby Fenton Paul Mars, his wife and (Melvin Sultemeir who cooked the beans)

Dessert Table: Laura Nieman, Rebecca Howerton, Shirley Runyon, Cheryl Eckenrode served all those delicious desserts that so many nice ladies bring every year.

Tea Station: Joann Hesskew, Pastor “ Skip” Brasher, Lisa Vargas, Valerie and Kaitlyn Hesskew kept the ice tea glasses full, which was a full time job because it was hot.

Serving Line: Joe Villarreal, Theresa Turner and Bruce Malone (From Rusk Texas) kept the serving line moving. Everyone said the fish etc. was great. Also someone asked me “who made that delicious cole slaw?” The answer to that, is Dorothy Troppy who has a helper Johnny Mae Barnett.

Plates to go: New Hope Members: Connie Granberg, Helen Knoll, Pete Foegelle, Shelby Foegelle, Cindy and Bob Hounsell, Brenda Adair and Alan Cooper,

Other Volunteers: Steve Malone, Glenn Malone and Deven Malone decorated the tables by putting on the tableclothes, balloons and flower arrangements.

Tina Gourley , Mary Ann Weaver and Tracy Mayo helped where ever they were needed.

The Search and Rescue team directed traffic which is not an easy job. The department really appreciates them doing that every year.

Katherine Foegelle, Medora Beckmann, Doug Bledsoe, Danny Ray, Lyle Yorgensen and Deb Yorgensen couldn’t make it this year. They were missed.

Corporate Board Members who volunteered: Vance Jenkins, Bobby Brewer, Kenneth Moore, Stormy Pruitt and Joe Villarreal

BVFD members who volunteered: David Hotz, Lynn Hicks, Dustin Beaudoin, Daniel Brunner, Frank Parker, Chris Kinikin, Armando Delgado, Macy McMain, Robin Hotz,Travis Hays, Michael Cole, Mark McMain, Adrian Gray, Benny Gaida, Dustin Garrett, Justin Shipman, Matt Mc Main and Judy Brewer. (Casey Bamberger couldn’t attend because he was away at school.)

I didn’t get everyone’s names that helped, but the department appreciates all the volunteers. Thank You for you supporting your Blanco Volunteer Fire Department.
