Leading Ladies Has All The Right Ingredients
Wednesday, April 29, 2009 • Posted April 28, 2009

Pink patent leather pumps, roller skates, Shakespearean costumes, and a rich, old woman… These are the ingredients of the hilarious farce, Leading Ladies, now playing at the Wimberley Playhouse. Directed by David Bisett and produced by Jana White, this production guarantees a laugh a minute.

The setting is an impressive mansion in York, Pennsylvania where two Shakespearean actors down on their luck arrive to try to claim the fortune of a sickly old woman by claiming to be her long lost relatives. Their plan becomes complicated as they realize the long lost relatives are actually nieces, not nephews.

Outfitted in custom dresses, high heels, and luxurious flowing wigs, the two faux nieces find themselves falling in love despite their original quest for wealth.

The ensuing complications and unexpected twists and turns in the story will keep you in stitches.

The Wimberley Players will perform Leading Ladies through May 10th at the Wimberley Playhouse, 450 Old Kyle Rd, Wimberley (Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sunday at 2:30pm). Tickets can be reserved by calling 512-847-0575. Ticket price is $15. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
