The 13th annual “Hill Country Run” motorcycle rally is in Luckenbach, Texas, May 1-3, 2009. Billed as “More than just a plain ole motorcycle rally,” the Hill Country Run is three days filled with hearty food, live music, friends new and old and miles of riding through the towns and vistas of the scenic Texas Hill Country.
The weekend gets an early start on Thursday, April 30, at Hondo’s on Main for a social and welcome. Guests are invited to an informal social gathering featuring live music at Hondo’s in downtown Fredericksburg.
Fredericksburg and the surrounding Hill Country is an awesome place for folks to ride. The scenery is beautiful and the people are friendly.
On Friday and Saturday, check-in and registration begins at 9:00am. You can register for the entire weekend for $45 per person, which includes Cowboy Breakfast (Saturday & Sunday), Road Trip, Bike Show, musical entertainment Friday and Saturday, Bike Games and vendors. Friday and Saturday day passes are available.
Hill Country Run registrants can start their Saturday early with a Cowboy Breakfast. The hosts will provide the fixings to create your own breakfast. Then on Saturday, the Hill Country Road Trip, traversing the scenic Hill Country, will give riders a chance to explore the many wonderful vistas this area of the state has to offer. Along the route, riders will pull in to designated stops, where they can drop tickets in a box. At 7:00pm, tickets will be drawn from each stop, with the winners receiving prizes. Also, beginning at 2:00pm, there will be a bike show, and at 3:00pm Bike Games to test riders and their skills. Lots of fun is in store.
Both Friday and Saturday, there will be food vendors serving up many great items, including gumbo, fish and shrimp dinners, German tacos, brisket sandwiches, roasted corn, curly fries, funnel cakes and lots more.
You won’t leave empty handed, vendors will be on hand, offering motorcycle-related items and souvenirs. Plus you can shop at Luckenbach’s General Store.
Weekend entertainment includes on Friday Jimmie Lee Jones, The Fabs and The Konkrete Kings, and on Saturday Kevin Deal, The T. J. Klein Band, and Classie Ballou.
On Sunday, the event closes out with a final Cowboy Breakfast and Sunday morning service.

The event is a volunteer effort. Proceeds from the Hill Country Run go to fund Fredericksburg Optimist Club projects, including the T-Ball Program, Scholarship Program, Pioneer Memorial Library Reading Hour Program, Tri-Star Sports contests, Oratorical Contest, and Essay Contest.
The Optimist Club encourages riders to arrive early and stay late in order to enjoy all the hospitality Luckenbach and Fredericksburg have to offer, including antique shopping, fine dining, Texas history, and ample sightseeing.
