Blanco Middle School Tennis Teams Place Second in Tourney

The Blanco Middle School tennis team traveled to Wimberley to compete in the Wimberley Middle School Tennis tournament.

Participating in the tournament were: Blanco, Wimberley, Liberty Hill, Dripping Springs and San Marcos.

Despite being the smallest school in the tournament, the Blanco team captured the second place team trophy.

Results: First Place, 8th Grade Girl’s Singles - Kelsey Schwind; First Place, 8th Grade Girl’s Doubles - Mishelle Calzoncit and Joanna Delavan; Second Place, 7th Grade Girl’s Doubles - Megan Wier and Codie Raby.

Semi-Finalists: 8th Grade Boy’s Doubles - Ian Ray and Edward Alvarado; 7th Grade Boy’s Doubles - Carlin Green and Ryan Edwards; and 7th Grade Girl’s Doubles - Cala Foster and Caitlyn Taylor.

Other participants were: 8th Grade Boy’s Singles - Ryan Davis and Lane Hoelting; 8th Grade Girl’s Singles - Selena Guerrero; 7th Grade Boy’s Singles - Trey Hunter; 8th Grade Boy’s Doubles - Chad Marshall and Will Byler; and 8th Grade Girl’s Doubles - Destiny Hicks and Isabella Cuevas.

Phillip Alvarado, injured, was also there to support his teammates.

The Middle School District Tennis Tournament will be held in Blanco on Wednesday, May 13th at 3:30pm. Coaches are Bill Tesch and Lindsey Balmos.
