Park hosts annual fishing clinic
Wednesday, May 13, 2009 • Posted May 12, 2009

The LBJ State Park and Historic Site in Stonewall, in conjunction with the Fredericksburg Wal-Mart Store and Ken Jenschke, are sponsoring the annual fishing clinic June 6 from 10:00am to noon.

The event will again be held on the banks of the Pedernales River located within the LBJ State Park and Historic Site at the Group Picnic area on Ranch Road 1.

This facility is located adjacent (just east) of the LBJ State Park Dining Hall.

The first Saturday in June of each year is designated as the annual “Free Fishing Day” and no person is required to process a fishing license or stamp endorsement while fishing on that day on any public waters.

No fishing license nor stamp endorsements are required regardless of age while fishing from the banks in a State Park or in waters completely enclosed by a State Park.

Note: Parents should bring their children and are encouraged to join them for a fun and relaxing morning of fishing. You are never too old to learn about fishing, and you might just catch a fish!

Fishing equipment and worms will be provided, or you may bring your own equipment and favorite bait. Drinks will be available at no charge also furnished by Wal-Mart.

A short seminar on fishing will be presented. The two-hour program will conclude with drawings provided by Wal-Mart. For further information call the LBJ State Park at 830-644-2252 or Wal-Mart at 830-997-2633.

Hope to see you at the park on the 6th of June!
