Wednesday, May 13, 2009 • Posted May 12, 2009

Once again, the Blanco FFA Chapter was awarded a grant as part of the Cargill Community Scholarship Program administered by the National FFA.

The local FFA qualified for the grant as a result of having a member receive a National FFA Scholarship sponsored by Cargill.

Students were selected for high academic achievement and excellence in school and community activities.

Scholarships of $1,000 each were awarded to 350 outstanding high school seniors living in communities where Cargill operates.

This year’s scholarship recipient was Austin Smith.

As a part of the scholarship program, Cargill provides a $200 grant in the student’s honor to the student’s high school to be used for the school’s library needs.

Blanco FFA is led by Jason and Felicia Marek.
