Lavender Festival Volunteers come from all over Texas
Wednesday, May 20, 2009 • Posted May 19, 2009

Close to 100 people have signed up to be volunteers for the Blanco Lavender Festival, to be held June 12th thru 14th. The majority of these are from the Blanco area, but several are coming from Austin, Houston and other parts of Texas. Some are even reported to be coming from across state lines! A prize to the volunteer who has traveled the furthest will be awarded during the festival.

Another 70 or more “shifts” still need to be covered, especially for the Wine & Beer Tent, an annual favorite for volunteers, and at the six lavender farms. The Blanco Chamber of Commerce will award a “door prize ticket” for every shift (of three hours covered), and encourages volunteers who have already signed up to add another shift or two! The three winners will receive gift certificates valued at $75, $50, and $25 to the Rockin’ R Steakhouse. The drawing will be held on Sunday evening, June 14th, after all shifts have been completed.

On Tuesday, June 2nd, from 6:30 to 8:30, an orientation will be held for all volunteers at the Old Blanco County Courthouse (which was originally scheduled for May 19th). Goody bags, t-shirts and magazines will be distributed. Walk-ins are welcome!
