Youth Summer Reading Program at the Blanco Library
Wednesday, June 3, 2009 • Posted June 2, 2009

It’s time to kick off the annual Youth Summer Reading Program at the Blanco Library. There are six programs scheduled throughout June and July for elementary age kids; parents are welcome to attend. It’s not necessary to attend all of the events. You can come to those that interest you or those you have time to attend.

This year, Maggie Goodman is starting things off with various Texas stories, at 10:30 Friday morning, June 12th. Any child that comes to the reading program will receive a Reward Club Card from Ringling Brothers Circus.

With each book the child reads, they will receive a stamp on that card and when their card has five stamps they will be given free admittance to the Ringling Brothers Circus this summer. Each child is only eligible for one free ticket. All they need to do is take the card to the arena box office for their free reserved seat for the performance.

If you can’t attend the events, but would like to participate in the reading program, come by the Blanco Library any time after June 12 to receive a Reward Club Card.

Youth Summer Reading Program Schedule:

June 12 - Maggie Goodman

June 14 - Dave “The Birdman” McKelvey

June 26 - Ringling Bros. Clown

July 10 - Spiders with Sheryl Smith-Rodgers

July 17 - Snakes with Jeff Holmes

July 24 - Singer & Storyteller Joe McDermott
