Dear Editor,

On July 4th there will be another protest meeting similar to the April 15th protest of spending and taxes by the federal government. There will be no political speeches as is customary on Independence Day, but it will be a peaceful meeting of concerned citizens, who, by their presence are demonstrating that they will take action at the polls against any elected politician who supports the current spending epidemic in Washington, D.C.

The program will be patriotic music interspersed with readings about the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

The objective of this protest is to intimidate by a show of force, the out-of-control spenders who face election next year, and to halt this gallop toward Socialism. The April 15th T-Day protest produced 134 signatures while another 20 or so did not register. That is 10% of our town’s population. A 40% or 50% turnout this time would be insuppressible news.

Our country is being hijacked. Three hundred years of struggle and achievement are going down the drain. We cannot let that happen. We are in a fight for our lives, the kind of fight most of us have never seen before. As of now, we are losing that fight.

Join your neighbors at 5:00pm on the Fourth of July at the Courthouse in Blanco for two hours to show the world we will not stand by and let our country be taken away from us.

Charley Pemberton
