Without a doubt, the Uptown Blanco Art Center presented an astoundingly successful event Friday, June 5th, with the Opening Reception of their Fine Art Show. The turnout was amazing. Best estimates are that there were between two and three hundred guests in attendance. Included were many of the artists whose exceptional art works are on display. Visitors to this charming event were serenaded by two accomplished violinists from the Bulverde Academy of Music, who played semi-classical music during the two-hour event. The hors d’oeuvres and wines were elegantly presented. Our thanks to Mary Johnston, Director of the Uptown Blanco Art Center, and M.J. Love, Art Center Coordinator, for their tireless efforts to make this show a unique and successful prelude to the beginning of Lavender Festival week.

The quality of the art work on display at this show is particularly noteworthy, and if you were unable to attend the opening reception, you have ample time to visit this extraordinary art exhibit which will be available for viewing Thursdays through Sundays from 11:00am until 9:00pm through June 28th. The show includes artwork in virtually every medium including watercolor, photography, fiber arts, jewelry, ceramics, plus oil and acrylic paintings. We are fortunate to have this type of quality event here in Blanco and no one should miss seeing this excellent display of fine art.
