Wednesday, February 27, 2008 • Posted February 26, 2008

Members of the newly formed Blanco County Lawn Mower Racing Association (BCLMRA) will elect officers at the BCLMRA track at East Headwaters Ranch Rd. and Eastview Lane in Headwaters on Saturday, March 8, 2008. The meeting will be at 1pm. The public is invited.

Other topics for discussion will include affiliation with the Lone Star Lawn Mower Racing Association, the Texas state chapter of the US Lawn Mower Racing Association, local track rules, safety, facilities, availability and race insurance options. Members will focus on rules and structure for the newly formed organization. Potential cart racing classes will also be discussed. Tips on racing mower construction and class rule limitations will be offered after the meeting.

The last races at the BCLMRA track before the Christmas break were held on December 8th, 2007. In the feature races, Michelle Wertheim won the IMOW powder puff class, Kerby Barbe won the IMOW novice class, and Chase Martinez won the IMOW expert class. Dennis Drake of Marble Falls put on an eye-opening exhibition of speed and performance in faster AP and CP classes. A small but enthusiastic crowd of about 40 racers and spectators enjoyed the afternoon of racing. The next races are tentatively scheduled for March 29, 2008, at 1pm. The public is invited. Additional information is available from Steve Wertheim at 830 336 2172, or Jim Barbe at 830 336 3611.
