My Study of Prayer

John 14:24 “24Anyone who does not [really] love Me does not observe and obey My teaching. And the teaching which you hear and heed is not Mine, but [comes] from the Father Who sent Me.”

Let the Holy Spirit speak to your heart as you read these Scriptures.

Jesus said “26But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.” John 14:26 AMP

I believe God’s Word above all else.

John 15:7 “7 But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!”

One might say, well, God hasn’t answered all my prayers. You could reply, well, do you “remain in Jesus” and do “His Words remain in you”?

Matthew 21:22 “22And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” When you pray, do you believe this?

Jesus said “24Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Mark 11:24 KJV

I believe, as a little child, the words Jesus spoke. I simply believe. Jesus said “3And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3

James 1:5-8 “ 5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.”

1 John 3:22:22 And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him.

What pleases God? Obedience and sincere, heartfelt worship. The first commandment, loving God, with our whole heart, soul and mind pleases Him. The second commandment, loving our neighbors, pleases God.

Jesus said in Matthew 25:40 “ 40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

Read about “The Final Judgment” in Matthew 25:31-46. If Jesus feels when we treat others good or bad, that we are actually doing it to Him, then it must be important. I believe it.

It is written in John 14:23 -“23Jesus answered, If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him.”

If we believe the above, and love God more than anyone else or anything on earth, (commandment 1) and love our neighbors (commandment 2) asking the Lord to help us love our enemies; I believe we qualify and God’s Holy Spirit does dwell in us.

1 John 5:14-16-14 And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. 15 And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.

16 If you see a Christian brother or sister sinning in a way that does not lead to death, you should pray, and God will give that person life. But there is a sin that leads to death, and I am not saying you should pray for those who commit it.” I believe it and I pray for people, that God would forgive them and heal them.

By the way, you know when Jesus was on the cross talking to the other two men on the other crosses, He forgave the sins of the penitent one. Luke 23:43 “ 43And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.”

If that thief went to heaven on the same day Jesus did, why do some people say you and I may go somewhere else first? If God is no discerner of persons, (meaning no one is more special than another), then what goes for that penitent thief goes for you and me, too (if we are penitent). I believe we will be with Jesus in heaven the day we die, if we have been reborn and repented for our sins.

I also believe you and I need to repent every day because we’re not perfect and still sin in small ways, every day (even if it’s just by judging others). I don’t steal, but I have lost my temper with my spouse & vice versa. Yes, I know everyone loves him, (I do, too), but we’re still imperfect humans! Tee hee!

Here’s that Scripture that says if you know it’s a sin and still do it anyway, your punishment is gonna be worse than if you hadn’t learned it’s a sin! Read the whole story in Luke 12.

Luke 12:48 “48But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

May God BLESS you and your loved ones!

Ruth 2:12 -"The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.
