October 20, 1967

Mr. and Mrs. Carl R. Poenisch are the proud parents of a 10 pound, 3 ounce baby boy, Carl Robert, born October 12, 1967, in Keidel Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg.

Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Carl H. Poenisch and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Schmidt of Blanco. The great-grandparents are Mrs. Robert Posnisch and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schmidt of Blanco, and Mr. And Mrs. Alfred Weirich of Fredericksburg.

Time to change

It’s time for a change – a change in time, that is.

Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour before going to bed this coming Saturday night, October 24; the official hour being 2 a.m. Sunday morning, October 25th.

Deer hide tanning captures interest

October 21, 1977

The Blanco River 4-H met on Wednesday October 5, in the Grange Hall. New officers were installed as follows: Lori Calhoun, President, Shelia Dechert, Vice-President, Linda Hostetler, Secretary and Marilyn Dechert, Reporter. Charles and Sandra Jones were elected as council delegates.

Lori Calhoun brought refreshments. Shelia Dechert gave an interesting program on tanning deer hides.

Panthers Placed in District 30A

October 20, 1967

Blanco has been placed in District 30A for the next two years after this season, according to information received by Suot Lester Cobb this week.

Schools assigned to District 30A are Bandera, Blanco, Comfort, Johnson City, and Sabinal.

Mrs. Lucy Morgan’s kindergarten class had a picnic at the part on Friday, October 13. Mothers of the pupils and younger children at home were also invited.

Those present were Sandra and Bobbie Behn, Cayce Cage, Lori and Lance Calhoun, Kenny and Bradley Wagner and Evelyn Reeves.

The kindergarten class will have a classroom party on Monday, October 30, during the regular class time.

All Faiths Chapel hosts “Fifth Quarter”

October 21, 1987

Member of All Faiths Chapel will host refreshments after the Varsity Football game Friday night at the Old Blanco County Courthouse.

Students, grades seventh through twelfth, are invited to attend.

42 Club plays games

October 21, 1977

The home of Mrs. Bill Smith was the setting for eight games of dominoes played by nine members and three guests. Prizes were won by Irmgard Weber, Tuana Hensley, Monta Knoll and Bertha Fries.

The next meeting will take place in the home of Emie Riba on November 9th.

October lunch Friday

October 21, 1977

The Senior Citizens are having a covered dish lunch Friday, October 28, at 12 noon to celebrate all birthdays in October.

Everyone is invited to come and bring a covered dish to the Senior Citizens Center on the square in Blanco.

Stahl seeks rematch game

October 21, 1977

Bill Stahl is at it again! He is sending a call for “The Over the Hill Gang” to get ready for a rematch in November. The time and date will be announced later.

Anyone interested in playing call 833-4816.

The team list to the faculty players 36-12 on September 24.

A question to the accuracy of the scorekeeping prompted the “Over the Hill Gang” to call for a rematch.
