Panthers Do Well in Home Track Meet

On Friday, February 29, the track was full of jumpers, throwers and runners along with many spectators to watch the first track meet.

Schools from Lago Vista, Wimberley, Cole, Medina Valley, Canyon Lake and Comfort were all in attendance.

In the JV division, Blanco, as a team, took second place with 117 points.

At the long jump pit, Luke took first place with a jump of 18.6, in the triple jump, Duke finished second with a jump of 38.10, followed by Martinez, who took fifth with a jump of 35.11.

In the pole vault area, Martinez took first place as he cleared 10’6” followed by G. Elrod who cleared 9’6” to take second place and Weaver who cleared 9’ to claim sixth place.

Weaver also took sixth place in the high jump as he cleared 5’2”. Sanchez took fourth place in the discus ring as he threw for a distance of 89’3”.

In the running events, the 4x400 relay team took third place with a time of 4:00, the 4x100 relay team took second place with a time of 47.72 and in the 4x200 relay Blanco took third place with a time of 1:45.04.

Romero took fifth place in the 100 yard dash with a time of 12.11. McClinton finished second in the 300 meter high hurdles with a time of 47.52.

Luke ran away with first place in the 200 meter run with a time of 24.02 followed by Bond, who took sixth place with a time of 25.23.

The varsity girls finished fifth over all with a total of 87 points.

Lacee Hunter took fourth place in the long jump with a jump of 14’4 3/4”, Morgan Petri took fourth place in the pole vault by clearing 6’0” and Riki Cole placed fifth place in the shot put ring as she threw 25’3”.

In the running events the 4x400 relay team took third place with a time of 4:36, the 4x200 relay team took fourth place with a time 1:59 and the 4x100 Blanco relay team took first place with a time of 53.47.

Jenkins took third place in the 400 meter dash with at time of 1:07.

Hunter took second place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.18 and fourth place in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 53.47.

In the 200 meter dash, Martinez took fourth place with a time of 28.27, Hill took fifth place with a time of 28.34 and in sixth place was Walker with a time of 28.36.

In the 100 yard dash, S. Martinez took first place with a time of 13.42, followed by Winn who took fifth place with a time of 14.03

The Varstiy boys finished fifth place over all with 74 team total points.

David Hostetler took first place in the triple jump with a jump of 42’1” and first place in the long jump with a jump of 19’9 1/2”. In the shot put ring, Henry Greathouse took fourth place.

In the varsity boy 4x100 relay the Blanco Panthers finished second with a time of 45.71.

Hostetler took fifth place in the 200 meter run with a time of 24.16, and fifth in the 100 meter yard run with a final time of 11.49.

Andrew Kohl took second place in the 400 meter run with a time of 54.17.

Cody Harvey finished first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.83 followed by Howells who took sixth place with a time of 45.23. Harvey also took first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.35 followed once again by Howells who took sixth place with a time of 17.83.

The next track meet will be on Thursday, March 6 at Canyon Lake.
