Girl Scout Registration Open Year Round Registered Girls Enjoy Camps, Activities and Leadership
Wednesday, March 5, 2008 • Posted March 4, 2008

Even though the school year is winding down, Girl Scout registration is going strong. Girls can register to participate in Girl Scouts at any time and can immediately begin enjoying the many programs, friendships and opportunities, including summer camp, available through Girl Scouting.

Summer camp, one of the most loved Girl Scout opportunities, is fast approaching. Girls ages 5-17 can still register for Girl Scouts and take advantage of this fun and educational opportunity. Girl Scouts of Central Texas summer camps include horseback riding programs, water sports, arts and crafts, nature exploration and more. Both overnight camping and day camping are available.

In addition to summer camps, Girl Scouts have access to girl-centered programming throughout the year. Among the 160 programs planned for this spring and summer are kayaking lessons, international cooking events, zoo overnighters and interactive computer workshops.

Through Girl Scout activities girls develop the confidence and self-esteem they need to be leaders. Earned awards, such as the Girl Scout Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards, give girls structured ways to employ their leadership skills through a community service project of their choice. Girls organize and implement a project and are rewarded by seeing the fruits of their efforts and receiving council recognition.

Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults. Adults over 18 years of age may be Girl Scout volunteers. With the variety of volunteer positions available, there is an opportunity for everyone.

To take advantage of these opportunities and register for Girl Scouts, contact the Girl Scouts of Central Texas at (800) 733-0011 or visit www.gsctx.org.
