Jesus Emeterio Calzoncit Sr., 68, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2008 in San Antonio, Texas. Jesus, known by most as Jesse, was born in Palau, Coahuila, Mexico on January 26, 1940. Jesus is survived by his wife of 48 years, Apolonia and seven children, Apolonia Torres and husband Hilario, Austin, Tx, Jesus E. Calzoncit Jr, Blanco, Tx, Eduardo M. Calzoncit and wife Leslie, Blanco, Tx, Graciela Sanchez and husband Arturo, Kingsland, Tx, Ricardo Calzoncit and wife Tara, Blanco, Tx, Salvador Calzoncit, Blanco, Tx, and Simona Calzoncit, Blanco,Tx. He had 15 grandchildren; Laura, Jose De Jesus, Jacob, Hilario, Rachel, Kaleb, Hillary, Victoria, Cristal, Grant, Damian, Hayden, Katlinn, Reyna, Ashlinn and one soon to be great-grandchild, Layla. Jesus had three brothers and many nieces and nephews. You could always find Jesus sitting in his truck at one of his many hot spots around town. He had a love of dancing and umpiring softball games on a Friday night in Johnson City. He always had an open door at his home for those that might need a place to stay. It is because of that kindness and the love that he had for his family that he will be dearly missed by his family and all that knew and loved him.
Services for Jesus will begin with visitation with the family at Crofts Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 12, between 5pm- 7pm followed by a Rosary services. Funeral services will be at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Blanco, TX March 13, at 10 am followed by burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. A lunch will be served at the Catholic Church after the burial service. Pallbearers are long time friends Benigno Herrera, Pedro Mancha, Rene Galvan, Guadalupe Cuevas, Ray Martinez, and Roland Mancha. Honary pallbearers are Elpidio Barrera, and Fred Romero. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 149100, Austin, TX 78714-9100.
