30 Days of Night

Noel–Here is a vampire flick for ya, starring Josh Hartnett and Melissa George. I was very excited about this movie coming out to rent since I love scary movies and I have really been in the mood for one; unfortunately I was highly disappointed. This movie is set in a town in Alaska that has 30 days of night every year. This is where I start having problems with this movie; if it was going to be dark in Blanco for 30 days, I would leave many days before that happened to make sure I didn't get stuck in town. A vampire shows up out of nowhere, then even more come, and strange things start happening. Then its dark for 30 days and people can't go anywhere and the vampires are running wild. The vampires are ridiculous looking, with strange teeth and a weird language. There are too many questions in this movie and not enough answers for me. If you really want a good vampire movie, I suggest Interview with a Vampire, my favorite vampire movie.

1 1/2 paws.

Gone Baby Gone: 3 1/2 paws.

Gone Baby Gone

Keith–Not since Million Dollar Baby has a movie challenged my decision-making premises like Gone Baby Gone. We've all seen children that need better parents, policemen that do the right thing and some that don't, and decisions that seem to be black and white turn to gray. This movie will have you questioning exactly what is right and wrong in numerous parts and keep you intertwined in one of the best movies I've seen in a while. This movie is a little rough around the edges, and the subject matter involves a little girl being kidnapped, child predators, drug dealers, cops and private investigators that have to deal with these situations. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen and I'm still thinking what I would do if I we're any one the character's in this movie, I loved it!! 4 paws

30 Days of Night: 3 paws (my wife is way wrong; this is a good movie, and scary)
