In celebration of the life of our Dear One…

Evelyn was born May 16, 1931 to Walter and Bertha (Delvige) McFarlin in Lee County, Texas. She moved to Blanco at the age of six. She graduated from Blanco High School and attended Durham Business College in Austin, Texas. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Evelyn married Dan Reeves on February 13, 1949. They lived in New Braunfels, Texas, for many years. After Dan passed away, she moved back home to Blanco and worked at several different jobs. When her health began to fail, she moved to Wann, Oklahoma, to be with her youngest sister and brother-in-law, Ginny and John McKellips. Evelyn again returned home to Blanco on October 3, 2007, and entered the Live Oak Medical Center. She was transferred to the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio on October 17. God took her home on October 20, 2007.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Melba Moore, her brother, Eldon McFarlin, and her stepson, Damon Reeves.

She is survived by two stepdaughters, Vera Oggletree of California, Lera Powell of San Antonio, one stepdaughter-in-law, Dorothy Reeves of Kerrville, 5 step grandchildren, and 3 step great-grandchildren. She also leaves three sisters, Winnie Lay of San Antonio, Lillian Drosche of Austin, Ginny McKellips of Wann, Oklahoma, one sister-in-law, Bannice McFarlin of Kyle, and one brother-in-law, John McKellips of Wann, Oklahoma. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved and mothered and is affectionately known by them as “Aunt Fritzie”.

We will miss her very much but God promised: “Death is swallowed up in Victory, O Death, where is thy sting? O Grave, where is thy victory?” 1 Corinthians 15:54-55.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, October 27 at Crofts Funeral Home, Blanco.
