Five members of the Blanco FFA spent this past weekend exhibiting their steers at the Texas Club Calf Association prospect steer show in Boerne. The TCCA sanctioned show proved extremely competitive as 137 steers from across the state competed.

Kaleigh Anderson took home the highest placing as her first place light weight Simbrah was named Reserve Champion of the Simbrah breed. She also earned two third place ribbons with her Santa Gertrudis and Chianina steers.

Other local students that did well included: Quaid Haack, first place Limousin, second place Simmental, fifth place Santa Gertrudis and fifth place Chianina; Dustin Green, third place Limousin; John Pepper, third place Maine Anjou; and Tanner Reddout, fourth place Maine Anjou.

These same students, along with several others, will now look towards upcoming county fairs in Blanco, Fredericksburg, Boerne and Hondo. The Blanco County Fair Steer Show will be on Saturday, August 15th at 1:00pm at the Blanco County Show Barn in Johnson City.

Advisors for the Blanco FFA are Jason and Felice Marek.
