It is almost August, gentle readers, and just about time for the kids to go back to school!! I am sure some of you (and you know who you are) are breathing a sigh of relief...

Well, the big news is that I finally heard from Ada Cooley... she and Ronnie went to Arkansas! And they had a lovely time. According to my sources, it was a lot greener there than it is here - probably most anywhere except the desert is greener than it is here.

Mrs. Ethridge is doing real well, which I was glad to find out.

And the last big news, for all of you who weren't able to be at Charles's reception, you missed some great food! There was just the right amount of beans, not too many and not too few, to go with Riley's meats, lots of side dishes, and desserts to die for. Those of us who were there got to see pictures of the wedding and actually see a real-life picture of Charles in a suit! Who would have ever believed it? He and his new bride, Rachelle, seem like they are going to get along just fine - she is a graduate student in Atmospheric Science, which, I am sure you all know, is just a fancy name for a weatherman. Thanks to Rebecca for putting up the bridal party!

The really last sort of big news is that Papa Joey's is moving to the corner of Fourth Street in the Blanco Star building. According to rumor, they need more space so Steve can dance from table to table rather than just staying on one. Seriously, it is nice that they will have a lot more seating capacity - that way, we can all eat there at once, rather than eating in shifts! Love, love, love their fettucini with shrimp!

Oh, just as a slap upside the head - I just found out that the Blanco Bowling Club is letting you pick the vegetables you want on the lunch plate instead of just giving you the veggie of the day! I was so thrilled (although apparently this has been going on for a while - I missed it).

Newsflash - Just in ---- where else but in Blanco could your mayor break her jaw and her cheekbone by loading cattle? A bull broke and hit a big metal bar to keep from being loaded, which in turn hit, keep our Tina in your thoughts, because she is looking at some serious surgery.
